EC Soil Mapping
Electrical Conductivity (EC) Mapping
EC measures the different conductivity values of the soil properties. Each soil property (sand, silt and clay) has different conductivity. By mapping the difference of the soil conductivity across the landscape it helps define the current NRCS soil type maps that are not accurate enough to be used in precision Ag. The cause of this discrepancy is open to discussion. Nevertheless, EC does show a stronger correlation to yield in these scenarios than what the NRCS soil type map does.
MISS has two options in EC mapping, single & dual depth. The single depth EC measures roughly 1 meter. The dual depth EC measures at 1 meter and 3 meters.
Bring in a more accurate soil type layer that allows the user to better define the yield goals, nitrogen usages and other agronomic actors in the field.
Similar to the Top Soil EC Mapping but helping to define soil type to a deeper depth. By splitting the upper (1 m) and the lower (3 m) a contractor can utilize this method of mapping for defining the areas of sand, silt and clay that may alter a drainage design.
